Firstly thank you for your fantastic support, for the two charities the final total should be close to £1400 a tremendous amount considering the credit crunch. I cant thank you enough; this money will help lots of children.
My next charity event involves dancing and woman’s cloths, the rest is a secret, don’t worry no fundraising its purely a ticket event three nights at the Woodville Halls Gravesend in July, ill post the photos then.
And the Big day.
Well I made it, just 5:11:00 not a brilliant time but my position for my age group 2485 makes it sound a bit better. What a day though the support was out of this world even around the dreaded Docklands where I had been warned that the support would be sparse, far from it, people were there in their thousands. A great atmosphere I am so glad I took part. The hardest part was between 30 – 35 km when my body wanted to give up, it was like having a good angel and a bad devil on my shoulders one saying **** this you cant go on, the other saying don’t be a woos get on with it, it was certainly a mind battle. At least I beat Peter Andre and Katie Price. The pair eventually completed the course in just over seven hours.
I think with a bit more training I could finish under four hours
You know I said never again.

They say never say never
All the best and thanks once again

- As some of you may know for the last few years I have been trying to secure a place in the Flora London Marathon, well my time has come, confirmation dropped on my mat Saturday morning, the 2009 race is on Sunday 26th April. Most people think at the age of 49 having run one marathon previously, that I am completely mad. I must admit knowing the training that I had to do last time, the injuries I received and the thought of those last six miles together with the pain afterwards, I could barely walk for 24 hours, I tend to agree with them. Unfortunately I am not as fit as I was three years ago at least 1/2 stone heavier so this is going to be a long hard slog for me, but for me it’s a must do before I die quest. Not just for myself I also want to help other people I have therefore decided to run the marathon and to raise as much money as I can for two children’s charities that are dear to my heart.

The Journey is nearly over
Went for my last run today, 10 minutes hardly seemed worth getting changed so I didn’t ran round the field out the back glorious sunshine felt good for 10 minutes, then I remembered I will be running for between 4 and 5 hours Sunday.
I just saw the weather forecast so some good and bad news, the good news its going to be cooler, the bad I cant blame the weather if I don’t make it. I am feeling quite nervous at the moment, as I have said before I am not a runner, I just like running, well some times at least.
A big big thank you for all those donations, I met up with Caroline Blakely the event organiser from Children with Leukaemia at Excel on Wednesday, she was very grateful for all the support as is the headmistress at the Craylands School, she is over the moon as all your contributions will go straight to the children who in these hard times desperately need our support.
Excel was buzzing, pasta parties, massages and lots of freebies, it is so well organised it was a great day out.
I will try and post some pictures of my running vest tomorrow so if you are interested and are watching the marathon, you might be able to spot me (not)
Any way a big thank you once again.
P.S. I will add one more post after the marathon, maybe some pictures and let you know how I got on.
Bye for now

Less than 14 days to go
Well less than 2 WEEKS TO GO, oh my god. At least the training has tapered off I now only have one long run left of 1 hour and a few short runs to do, also the best bit is about to start lots and lots of pasta to eat, cant wait. I have lost nearly a stone since December so hopefully wont put it back on before the race, keep worrying if I have done enough training, well its too late now. Thanks again for all your support.

Under 4 Weeks - OH NO
Firstly a big, big thank you for all the recent donations Louise Roberts, that was really generous of you, you are a lovely person, Jack and Amar not so lovely but good people thank you and an anonymous donation of £111.00 from ‘another fan’ so lets think about this, no Tax bonus so not from the UK, not wanting to leave there name? Ok I can think of one likely candidate, I’ll get back to you if I’m correct, but I think he’s a New Yorker and obviously a really good person, but wanting to be anonymous.
And the running
Less then four weeks to go, am I ready, well no not really. Went on a long run last Tuesday about 17 miles, it was painful, had to stop at a petrol garage and top up my water bottle at there tap, had no money on me to buy some, the garage attendant must have thought I was mad. One more long run to do, will attempt 20 miles should have gone today but have a hangover. Met up with Richard, Amar, Pierre and a lot of people from RQA London for a drink last night a special thank you to Helen Hope for persuading me to have that last drink, or was it the other way round, my heads to fuzzy to remember. A great bunch of people and I wish them all the best, even Jack who jumped at the chance to sit at my old desk :}.So the plan for this week is to run 20 tomorrow, followed by a couple of short runs Thursday and Friday, then next week its less mileage as I begin to ramp the miles down in preparation for the big day, well that’s the plan, please keep up the donations and remind any one that needs a reminder, thanks for visiting see you soon.

1 Month 6 Days to go
Its been a few weeks again, sadly I no longer work at Blackrock hence why I have not got round to posting anything. The donations have been coming in though, a big thanks to Michael Kishinevsky a great guy in New York for his large donation, it was really kind of him. BLK was a great place to work, and I will miss them, especially Richard, Mr Sagoo and the whole of RQA in London, I wish them all the best in these hard times. Any way enough of all that back to the running 17 miles this morning around country lanes in the sunshine, I could get used to this…Thanks again to everyone bye for now.

Sorry been bad again, 1 Month 20 Days to go – Have clocked up 34 + miles this week ran 12 miles on Monday, my poor legs. Thanks to all those who have donated so far its really kind of you. Here are some of the words of encouragement I have received so far.
Nice one Terry. I recommend starting to carb load from now onwards with pie & beer
Running for a worthy cause - you got my vote.
From one marathon runner to another, congratulations on getting the London marathon entry. What kind of time are you looking for ? What times are you getting for your long runs ?
I found that running around the hilly area of Muswell Hill really helped me when I ran my Oct 08 Dublin marathon.
You are definitely mad, but have a greater will power than me. Good luck for the run and I will continue to watch your blog over the next weeks.
That's ok - they are well deserved…I think it's really cool that you are doing it. I hope you reach your target.
Will BlackRock match your sponsorship money?
Will be attempting 14 miles before work next Monday should be fun.
Go on I dare someone to post a reply.

2 Months 6 Days to go
Well due to two inches of snow at Brands Hatch the half marathon was cancelled, it may have been a blessing since I ran in from Blackheath this Wednesday approx 10 miles and I was dismal although I managed to run the full distance it wasn’t pretty.

2 Months 30 Days to go
Nearly 4 weeks without a word. Me bad This is a catch up on where I am.
This is so hard, motivation –is at an all time low, it’s been freezing cold and getting harder to step outside and when I do every one seems to be running faster than me, the first and only time I ran a marathon, some three years ago was a breeze to this. Still I am getting out three times a week so not all bad.
Great news went for a run today and passed someone, although they had a Zimmer frame, I’m sure it counts as they were sporting a pair of top of the range Nike’s. Motivation still low but one things for certain unless I pass out or break something I will cross that finishing line in 12 weeks time.
Oh no just applied to run in the Brands Hatch half Marathon on the 7th Feb. Has anyone got a Caterham , Ferrari or even a Ford Ka I can borrow? 13.1 miles around Brands Hatch a quote from their web site “The circuit’s unique combination of dips, cambers, fearsome corners and hills means it is still one of the world's favourite racing circuits” dips!, hills! Oh joy.
